AREA COORDINATOR

Required minimum qualifications, skills and experience
1. Masters degree in Public Health, Project Management or a related discipline.
2. At least three (3)years experience working in a developing country
3. Demonstrated experience in programme management and management of field teams
4. Excellent knowledge of communicable disease control programmes
5. A broad interest in communicable disease control and particularly integrating different communicable disease control programmes and HSS.
6. Experience managing grants from multiple donors
7. A self –starter with proven leadership skills
8. Excellent written and spoken English
9. Strong computer skills particularly Microsoft Office
Desirable:
1. Experience working in Southern Sudan or another humanitarian context
2. Knowledge of neglected tropical diseases and their control
3. Experience with Geographical Information Systems
Package: A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate including R/R.
Security situation in country:
Please note that Southern Sudan is a post-conflict setting with recurring localized insecurity. To date the insecurity is primarily inter-ethnic and inter-clan fighting often related to cattle and other resources. This does not generally target ex-patriot or NGO staff but does have potential to disrupt programming and occasionally leads to the need to relocate staff. While Malaria Consortium takes all reasonable measures to ensure the safety of its staff interested candidates must be aware and willing to work in such a context. Given this context all Malaria Consortium positions in Southern Sudan are unaccompanied postings.
Contract duration: 12 months (with option of renewal subject to performance)
